Rutgers University provides a variety of special living options including a residential college, living learning communities, cooperative living, and special interest sections. These residential experiences provide small living arrangements that create a strong sense of community based on similar goals and interests. These programs provide opportunities for students to work together and share experiences based on interest areas, co-curricular activities, or even shared coursework. This helps to bring students and faculty together and create academic and social support networks. Students indicate that these communities provide a small "family like" experience and help in their transition to college. Assessment shows that students are typically more satisfied with their residential experience when residing in one of our special living options.
Incoming students interested in residing in one of our special living options will indicate their interest on the online housing application, which is found on the enrollment pathway. Please note that some programs require separate applications. Returning students interested in special living options should follow the registration/application procedures noted on returning student sign back information received each spring semester.
